Exploring The Hot New Trend For Curved Kitchen Islands
This season, we’re seeing the rise of a new trend for curved kitchen islands inspired by natural, organic shapes. Curves add an inviting softness to your interior, and this contemporary look can be played out with a variety of materials to create a stylish and unique centerpiece for your kitchen.
Join us as we explore the curved aesthetic and consider ways in which you can introduce this elegant trend into your home.
ROUNDED SHAPES: BRINGING AN ORGANIC SOFTNESS INTO THE KITCHEN
Straight lines are giving way to enticing curves for kitchen islands to create a warm welcome for you and your guests. This softer approach builds a pleasing silhouette inspired by biophilic design – the concept of connecting with the natural world via organic shapes and textures.
For our Fisher Island project, we created a warm and contemporary feel by pairing a curved, pale oak island with one of our made-to measure classic French ranges. A contrasting grey marble countertop and splashback complete the look.
COMBINING CURVES WITH ON-TREND FLUTED DETAILING
The trend for fluted glass has been around for several years, but we’re now seeing fluted details cropping up on other surfaces including cabinet doors and end panels.
Bringing curved and fluted elements together in your kitchen island adds depth and interest to the scheme, while making a subtle nod to classical architectural features such as Roman columns.
For our glamorous Palm Beach project, we incorporated on-trend fluted elements into the curved central island as well as sculptural pillars. The fluted motif was then repeated on the hood and the cabinetry to create a stylish and cohesive look.
CREATING CURVED REFLECTIONS
When considering curves in the kitchen, it’s not just the island getting in on the act. Our bespoke hoods – available in any color or configuration you desire – can be made with a curved profile to echo the rounded shape of the island below.
Why not embrace the curve with your units and accessories, too? Undulating kitchen cabinets combine perfectly with curved elements like chopping boards, circular trays, and round cookware such as our heirloom copper pans or French-inspired heritage stoneware.
At L’Atelier Paris Haute Design, we can help create your luxury bespoke kitchen featuring curves, fluted detailing, or classic straight lines. The choice is yours. Contact us today to make the first steps towards your dream kitchen.
